VONS ADR Updates

We are pleased to announce that the Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) program with Vons has been extended for another month, through November 30, 2015. 
We are currently engaged in negotiations with the Company and a third party to resolve the differences we have in determining how much money has been saved by the Company and should be shared with you.
This means that the current program will continue, for now.

From Brown to Bethel: Voter Registration Day Event

In honor of National Voter Registration Day and Brown Chapel AME’s historic role in the Selma Voting Rights marches 50 years ago, Bethel AME in association with UFCW Lcoal 770 is proud to present with the SCLC of Southern California, this free event "From Brown To Bethel..." on Sunday, 9/20 @ 4 pm with a 3 pm reception at the church.
In addition to on-site voter registration, the event will feature: music; the documentary, "Selma: The Bridge To The Ballot" (40 mins.);

As you may know, several months ago Walmart closed its Pico Rivera store due to alleged plumbing problems.  With just hours notice, 530 workers and their families found themselves without a job.

Albertsons/Vons is getting ready to open re-open Vons Store # 3329 located at 2010 Cliff Drive in Santa Barbara, another re-purchased Haggen store.  Based on our agreement with Albertsons/Vons, the hiring for this store will be based on the seniority of those who submit an on-line application.

LA Labor Throws Full Support Behind El Super Workers: Boycott On!

The LA Labor movement announced their full support behind the consumer BOYCOTT of the highly profitable Latino grocery chain, El Super. This is the first major supermarket boycott called by LA Labor in over a decade.
This announcement comes in the midst of an escalating dispute between El Super and its employees, who are represented by the UFCW.
