Bargaining for a new Food 4 Less contract continued on February 24 and 25 with contract expiration just 2 weeks away. The Food 4 Less workers participating on the bargaining committee have stood strong at the negotiating table to win safety protections, more hours and better pay. They spoke up about members’ serious concerns around safety, under scheduling, abuse of Utility Clerks, and workers being forced to stay beyond their scheduled shifts among other important issues.

Last week, Food 4 Less workers rallied in front of a store in South LA to gather the petition signatures they have collected from 2117 of their coworkers. They held large Valentine’s Cards addressed to Kroger CEO Rodney McMullen. The cards contained the workers’ petition and the signatures and were covered with personal messages from the workers written on heart shaped stickers highlighting the workers’ main demands. The cards and messages were mailed to Kroger’s CEO Rodney McMullen. Check out the video!

The company has not improved its 50 cent wage proposal. Workers deserve better and must stand together to demand more. The Company believes you only deserve a 50 cent increase.
