Union Workers at CVS Overwhelmingly Ratify New Contract
Pay Increases, Improvements in Health Benefits and New Measures to Keep Stores Safe among contract victories
Los Angeles– Today CVS workers overwhelmingly ratified a new contract that secures wage increases, improved healthcare benefits, guaranteed hours, and additional new measures to keep stores safe.
CVS employees –who are UFCW members, scored pay increases of nearly 10%, with all wage increases retroactive to July 4, 2021 when the previous contract expired.
“This contract makes our health benefits more affordable, and is a step towards fairer wages and safer stores. We want to thank consumers and the community for standing with us in this fight for recognition of our sacrifice during the pandemic,” said Darlene Inzunza, a Pharmacy Lead Tech at a CVS store in Los Angeles.
Two new developments marked this contract:
First, it was the first CVS contract where workers sat at the bargaining table and shared their experiences during the pandemic. Second, it established a ground-breaking worker-composed Health and Safety Committee to address the hazards of working in this sector, both from the pandemic and the rash of violence in stores.
Negotiations involved eight UFCW Locals in California including Local 5, 135, 324, 648,770, 1167, 1428 & 1442. Approximately 7,000 CVS workers in the state will be covered by the contract. Roughly 2,600 CVS workers are in Local 770 jurisdiction.

Trabajadores de CVS Ratifican Contundentemente Nuevo Contrato
Aumentos de Sueldo, Mejoras en los Beneficios de Salud y Nuevas Medidas Para Hacer las Tiendas Más Seguras, Entre los Logros del Contrato
Los Ángeles– El día de hoy, los trabajadores de CVS ratificaron contundentemente un nuevo contrato que asegura incrementos de sueldo, mejoras en los beneficios de salud, garantías de horas y nuevas medidas para mantener las tiendas seguras.
Los empleados de CVS, que son miembros del Sindicato de Trabajadores Unidos de la Industria de Alimentos y el Comercio (UFCW), lograron aumentos de pago de alrededor de un 10%. Todos los incrementos serán retroactivos al 4 de julio, fecha en que venció el contrato anterior.
“Este contrato hace nuestros beneficios de salud más accesibles y es un paso adelante para tener salarios más justos y tiendas más seguras. Queremos agradecer a nuestros clientes y a la comunidad por estar con nosotros en esta lucha por reconocimiento de nuestro sacrificio durante la pandemia,” dijo Darlene Inzunza, Técnica Farmacéutica en una tienda CVS en Los Ángeles.
Dos nuevos avances marcaron este contrato:
Primero, este fue el primer contrato de CVS en el cuál los trabajadores se sentaron a negociar con la compañía y compartieron sus experiencias durante la pandemia. Segundo, se formó un Comité de Salud y Seguridad para atender los peligros de trabajar en este sector, tanto los problemas relacionados a la pandemia como con la racha de incidentes violentos en las tiendas.
Las negociaciones involucraron a ocho locales sindicales de UFCW en California, incluyendo a los locales 5, 135, 324, 648,770, 1167, 1428 & 1442. Aproximadamente 7,000 trabajadores de CVS en el estado estarán protegidos por este contrato; alrededor de 2,600 de estos empleados pertenecen al Local 770 de UFCW.
