UFCW 770 Extends Heartfelt Condolences on the loss of Sigifredo Aguirre, Vice-President Emeritus of Local 770
Sigifredo Aguirre, former UFCW Local 770 Executive Board Vice-President passed away Thursday Dec.3, 2020 surrounded by his wife and children. He lost his valiant battle with brain cancer but he will always be among us in spirit.
Sigifredo Aguirre was a leader of our Union: a craftsman whose skills engendered respect from his fellow workers, always loyal to the Local, and more than willing to assume any task asked of him that would better the situation of our members. We were fortunate to have several discussions with him about what is and should be the character of 770. His practical and tactical counsel will be missed.
Sigi was able to vote in the historic 2020 elections. Before he voted, he asked that his sister go to our website to ensure that his vote reflected our collective understanding of what ballot measures and candidates stand in the interests of working folks. He, like all of us, made sure that every action we take is a positive one for the labor movement and our community.
Sigifredo Aguirre was Vice-President Emeritus of UFCW 770. He became a Local 770 member since he started working as a meat cutter at Gelson’s in 1987.He was a Trade Union leader, who centered his life around his family, his Union and his craft. It was a life that merits, that demands celebration.
¡Sigifredo Aguirre, Presente!
