UFCW Local 770 Grocery Merger Update
Update on our efforts to protect workers and customers from the proposed Kroger-Albertsons Merger/C&S Divestiture
UFCW 770 Members,
On Monday, January 15th, Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson filed a lawsuit in King County, Washington court to block the proposed merger between The Kroger Company and Albertsons Companies, Inc. and their proposed divestiture of stores to C&S Wholesale Grocers.
When we make our voices heard, we inspire action.
Join our member webinar on Tuesday, January 23rd at 8am and 5pm for more information on these latest updates and our fight against this disastrous merger.
Several other states Attorneys General from Colorado and California (where 770 members met directly with AG Bonta) have announced investigations and indicated that there may be legal action on the horizon as well.
In response to the lawsuit, Kroger and Albertsons announced a delay to the merger timeline, until potentially as late as August.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is continuing its review of the proposed merger, and we continue to work closely with them. Local 770, in coalition with other local unions from across the United States, has provided extensive information about the proposed merger to the FTC. Both the courts and the FTC have the power to potentially block the merger from being completed.
We can’t let up now.
If you haven’t already, tell the FTC and California Attorney General Bonta that you oppose the proposed merger.
Don’t forget to register for the webinar on Tuesday, January 23rd at 8am and 5pm for more information.
See you there. ✊
