Workers’ Memorial Day 2020
Community members and grocery workers surrounded a Koreatown Food 4 Less in a car caravan to support essential grocery workers who have contracted COVID-19.
Recently, Angela Perez, a cashier at the Food 4 Less on Western Avenue in Koreatown, fell ill with COVID-19. On Worker Memorial Day, an international day to commemorate workers who are injured on the job, community members honored Angela and other grocery workers who have contracted the coronavirus as these workers remain on the frontlines of the pandemic.
Community members also called on Kroger, the corporation that owns Food 4 Less, and other grocers to fully comply with new statewide and county regulations to protect the health of grocery store workers, customers, and the public.
