GWR Bargaining Update | February 28, 2025
Tick tock - Our contract expires Sunday!
And Kroger and Albertsons continue dodging us on staffing and wages!
Despite our contract expiring on Sunday, we’re still waiting to hear from Kroger and Albertsons on a lot of issues, including those that are very important to us like wages, healthcare and ensuring we have the appropriate staffing levels.
We know how important we, the workers, are to the companies. We keep their shelves stocked, their food fresh, their customers happy, and their profits high. And we deserve to have a contract that respects our contributions to the companies.
One bright spot: all the actions we’ve done so far in our fight, from signing petitions, attending delegations and joining calls has resulted in a tentative agreement on one very important issue – subcontracting in our stores. We’ve ensured that our work is our work and won’t get taken over by outside vendors.
What’s next?
Our contracts expire Sunday March 2, 2025 and the bargaining team has made the strategic decision that we will not agree to a contract extension because a contract extension would limit our ability to fight for the fair contract we deserve. Remember that when a contract expires, our current wages, benefits, and protections don’t change, including our health insurance. We should report to work as usual while we continue to fight for the new contract we deserve.
It’s clear from Kroger’s and Albertsons’ actions at the bargaining table that they will not offer serious proposals until we show how united and strong we are at every single action, event or meeting happening. How do we show our power?

Kroger y Albertsons siguen evadiendo el tema de más personal y sueldos
Aunque nuestro contrato se vence el domingo, todavía estamos esperando que Kroger y Albertsons respondan sobre varios temas, incluyendo aquellos que son muy importantes para nosotros, como los sueldos, aseguranza médica y garantizar que tengamos los niveles adecuados de personal.
Sabemos lo importantes que somos los trabajadores para estas empresas. Somos los que mantenemos sus estantes abastecidos, su comida fresca, a sus clientes satisfechos y sus ganancias altas. Y merecemos un contrato que respete nuestras contribuciones a estas compañías.
Por el lado bueno, todas las acciones que hemos hecho hasta ahora en nuestra lucha, desde firmar peticiones, participar en delegaciones y unirnos a llamadas, han resultado hoy en una gran victoria: hemos asegurado que nuestro trabajo siga siendo nuestro y no será tomado por proveedores externos. Este es un tema crucial para el futuro de nuestro sindicato, y estamos orgullosos de haberlo logrado tan temprano en la lucha.
¿Qué sigue?
Nuestros contratos vencen el domingo 2 de marzo del 2025 y el equipo de negociaciones ha tomado la decisión estratégica de que no aceptaremos una extensión del contrato porque una extensión del contrato limitaría nuestra capacidad de luchar por el contrato justo que merecemos. Recuerda que cuando un contrato se vence, nuestros actuales sueldos, beneficios y protecciones no cambian, incluyendo tu aseguranza médica. Debemos reportarnos a trabajar como siempre mientras seguimos luchando por el nuevo contrato que merecemos.
Es claro por las acciones de Kroger y Albertsons en la mesa de negociaciones que ellos no ofrecerán propuestas serias hasta que nosotros les demostremos qué tan unidos y fuertes estamos en cada una de las acciones, eventos y reuniones que hagamos. ¿Cómo demostramos nuestro poder y fuerza?
