ULP STRIKE AUTHORIZATION VOTE
OVERWHELMINGLY PASSES
Over the past week, you have made your voice heard by overwhelmingly voting to authorize your bargaining committee to call for a strike to protest unfair labor practices if needed. We sent the message loud and clear that if Food 4 Less / Foods Co. continues to discriminate against us, illegally surveil us, prevent new coworkers from talking to union reps, or prohibit us from participating in union activity, we will take action.
All of us have shown incredible strength during negotiations, and our vote sends a strong message to Food 4 Less / Foods Co. that we have earned and deserve better.
While we spent the week making it clear to our company that we will not tolerate their unlawful behavior at the bargaining table or in the stores, they’ve been getting nervous. They know that we’ve got the law, our coworkers, and our customers on our side, which is why they’ve been doing everything they can to try and convince us that we don’t deserve better.
But if they thought Food 4 Less and Foods Co. members could be scared away from standing up for our rights, they found out tonight that they are very, very wrong.
What does this mean?
This vote prepares all of us to take action if the companies continue to commit unfair labor practices that undermine our ability to get the wages, benefits, and protections we need.
A strike is always a last resort, and we will continue to push for Food 4 Less / Foods Co. to do the right thing and come to the table prepared to bargain in good faith.
You will always be the first to know if we are taking action. There are many ways we can stand up for our rights, and there will be opportunities to attend member meetings, calls, or trainings, where we can ask questions and feel confident about taking action together.
And if our company forces us to strike, we will have strike funds available to support us.
AGAIN: DO NOT WALK OUT UNTIL YOUR UNION NOTIFIES YOU. If you walk out before that, you can be disciplined and/or fired by your employer.
Next Steps
We are set to meet with Food 4 Less / Foods Co. again on June 17th where we will fully discuss the company’s latest offer and make our priorities clear: we need equitable wages sooner, more guaranteed hours, and protection from vendors doing work that should be ours.
We deserve to be treated with respect without the company interfering with our legal rights and we deserve a fair contract, now.

VOTO DE AUTORIZACIÓN DE HUELGA POR ULPs PASA CONTUNDENTEMENTE
Durante esta última semana, tú has hecho escuchar tu voz al votar contundentemente para autorizar a tu comité de negociaciones llamar a una huelga para protestar contra prácticas laborales injustas si fuera necesario. Mandamos un mensaje fuerte y claro de que si Food 4 Less / Foods Co. continúa discriminando en nuestra contra, vigilándonos ilegalmente, impidiendo que nuestros nuevos compañeros de trabajo hablen con representantes de la unión o prohibiéndonos participar en actividades de unión, nosotros tomaremos acción.
Todos nosotros hemos demostrado una increíble fortaleza durante las negociaciones y nuestro voto manda un fuerte mensaje a Food 4 Less / Foods Co. que ya nos hemos ganado un mejor contrato y que lo merecemos.
Mientras nosotros pasamos la semana dejándole claro a la compañía que no vamos a tolerar su conducta ilegal en la mesa de negociaciones o en las tiendas, ellos se han puesto nerviosos. Ellos saben que tenemos la ley, nuestros compañeros de trabajo y a nuestros clientes de nuestro lado, por eso ellos han estado haciendo todo lo posible para tratar de convencernos de que no merecemos algo mejor.
Pero si ellos pensaron que los miembros de Food 4 Less y Foods Co. podían ser asustados para que no luchen por sus derechos, ellos se dieron cuenta esta noche que están muy pero muy equivocados.
¿Qué significa esto?
Este voto nos prepara a todos nosotros para tomar acción si las compañías continúan cometiendo prácticas laborales injustas que debilitan nuestra capacidad de obtener los sueldos, beneficios y protecciones que necesitamos.
Una huelga siempre es el último recurso y nosotros seguiremos presionando a Food 4 Less / Foods Co. a hacer lo correcto y que llegue a la mesa de negociaciones preparado para negociar de buena fe.
Tú siempre serás el primero en saber si estaremos tomando acción. Hay muchas maneras en que podemos luchar por nuestros derechos y habrá oportunidades de llegar a reuniones de miembros, participar en llamadas o entrenamientos, en los que podemos hacer preguntas y sentirnos seguros de tomar acción juntos.
Y si nuestra compañía nos obliga a la huelga, tendremos fondos de huelga disponibles para apoyarnos.
NUEVAMENTE: NO SALGAS DE LA TIENDA HASTA QUE TU REPRESENTANTE DE LA UNIÓN TE NOTIFIQUE. Si sales antes de eso, puedes ser disciplinado y/o despedido por tu empleador.
Siguientes Pasos
Estamos listos para reunirnos con Food 4 Less / Foods Co. de nuevo el 17 de junio cuando discutiremos totalmente la más reciente oferta de la compañía y haremos claras nuestras prioridades: necesitamos sueldos equitativos pronto, más horas garantizadas y protección ante proveedores haciendo trabajo que debería ser nuestro.
Merecemos ser tratados con respeto sin que la compañía interfiera con nuestros derechos legales y merecemos un contrato justo ahora.
